The Wexner Israel Fellowship Alumni (WIFA) Institute is meeting as we go to press in Nazareth, Israel. The annual three day gathering is planned by alumni in conjunction with The Wexner Foundation staff. This year’s Institute is titled: “How Do We Create Public Policy for a Jewish and Democratic State in a Diverse Society?”  The Institute began on Wednesday with greetings from Nazareth’s Mayor, the Honorable Mr. Ali Salam. Topics included: “The Jewishness of Israel,“  “Making Public Policy for Haredim, the Secular, and Everyone In Between,” and “Promoting Equitable Public Policy for the Arab Population - Barriers and Opportunities.“  A combination of faculty and alumni-led sessions were woven throughout the Institute, along with in-depth tours of Nazareth and Nazareth Illit, lots of difficult conversation, and of course, an annual alumni jam -- an evening of magical music.

The Institute is being attended by a record 114 WIFA, along with spouses. Elka Abrahamson, President, The Wexner Foundation, and Cindy Chazan, Vice President, will be leading sessions as well.
