- Opening Song: Ha Chita Tzomachat Shuv/ “The Wheat Grows Again,” by Dorit Tzameret (1974) Dorit was a member of Kibbutz Beit HaShita, which lost 11 men in the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The song has become a core part of Yom Hazikaron/Remembrance Day “liturgy” in Israel. After the massacre in Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7th 2023, the members of Kibbutz Be’eri who were able, evacuated to the Dead Sea where they adapted the lyrics of this song that includes the verse, “you are gone, but we have to go back to Be’eri.” Also, last week in Israel was the first day of sowing seeds for growing wheat.
- Closing Song: Shir Lama’alot/ “A Song for Ascents,” performed Mosh ben Ari of Sheva (1999)
