In 2015, the 30th Anniversary celebration of The Wexner Foundation in Columbus, Ohio was a hard reset for me. Last January, I had the honor of hearing Jeannie Opdyke Smith tell the story of her late mother, Irene Gut Opdyke, who rescued 12 Jews (13 when you include the baby born in captivity) by hiding them in the basement of a Nazi officer’s home.
